Richard Westley
Writers are fashioning new modes of expression in the twilight of postmodernism and I aim to speed this socially aware movement. Perhaps The Age of Trans is an apt way to describe the kinds of work poets, writers and other artists are creating as we become increasingly transnational, transsexual, transrational, yet always fixed on the transcendent connected with any person and situation. This idea forms the context for my own creative efforts.
I am first and foremost a poet. But in all my writing I am especially aware of the challenges of living and writing in a world careening toward apocalypse. Because of this, I feel deeply the need to embrace an ethos of solidarity and empathy with everyone. I try to sustain this ethos in my life and writing.
